Are you just existing or really living?
“To live is…..the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that’s all.” ~ Oscar Wilde.
Do you feel like you are living in the rat race? During rush hour people move robotically from one destination to the next. Familiar surroundings tend to go unnoticed and we repeat it all again the next day like ground hog day. Our senses slowly but surely become numb and we inevitably forget what it was like to live and therefore just exist in everyday life.
Routine is not all bad, however breaking it up is key to a balanced life. Do you recall those moments when you arrive in a foreign place? Unaware of your surroundings your senses kick in. You notice smells, observe people, the environment, your intuition ignites to guide you. These moments slap you into the present moment, you are no longer thinking of the past or the future, but of where you are and putting one foot in front of the other. This is what it feels like to connect with your deeper senses, this is what it feels like to live.
For some people this change can be unsettling, to others exciting. But it doesn’t have to be daunting. You don’t have to fly across to the other side of the world! It can be as simple as taking a different route to work, joining an evening class or taking that weekend trip to that place that you have never visited. So often do I hear locals admit never visiting the very sights that people come so far to see.
Don’t put off doing those very things you have longed to do because life got in the way. Break up everyday life with a bit of adventure and start expanding your familiar boundaries at your own pace.
