When You Know What’s Wrong But You Need to Know HOW to Fix It

If you’re feeling lost, under the weather, stressed, or exhausted… if anxious thoughts and worry are keeping you up at night…

If you’re not eating well, drinking too much, or not looking after yourself as well as you’d like… if you keep breaking promises to yourself and things feel like they’re going haywire…

You might know you need help, but here’s the thing: do you really want to spend months talking about how you got into this position?

You already know what’s going wrong, right? What you want to know is HOW to fix it.

I’ve worked with many clients in this situation, people who want to change but are struggling to take that crucial first step.

Often, they initially consider talking therapy with the understanding that discussing their problems will sort everything out. And sometimes it can.

But it can also keep people stuck in the story of their struggles rather than moving toward solutions.

However, I’m not here to discourage anyone from seeking the support that feels right for them… instead, I want to advocate for why someone feeling stuck should seriously consider working with a coach.

What Makes Coaching Different

We Start Where You Are, Not Where You’ve Been

As a coach, I accept that yes, you’re in a bind. But here’s what’s liberating – we don’t need to excavate your past to understand why.

In fact, you may never have to ask the question “Why has this happened to me?” We create awareness around a simple truth: if you keep doing the same things without making any changes, very likely nothing will change.

Instead, we explore what’s happening right now. Your daily habits, where you struggle, what obstacles feel overwhelming, the worries keeping you up, your self-talk, that inner critic that seems to have a megaphone.

We look at how you sabotage your best-laid plans, not to judge, but to understand the patterns so we can work with them.

We Focus on the Future You Want

Rather than dwelling on problems, we gently explore: What would you like to be different? Who do you want to show up as in the world? What would an ideal day look like for you? What feeling do you want to have day in and day out?

These aren’t pie-in-the-sky questions – they’re the foundation for creating real change.

We Bridge the Gap Between Where You Are and Where You Want to Be

Once we’ve identified the discrepancy between your current situation and your ideal situation, we ask the most important question: What can we do about it? What’s the first step?

And this is where coaching becomes truly powerful.

The Power of Having Someone in Your Corner

Change happens through small, consistent actions.

But here’s what I’ve observed over years of coaching: when people try to create change alone, excuses rear their heads. We justify them, believe them, and give ourselves permission to slide back into old behaviours.

A coach doesn’t let you slip back so easily. We’re there to:

  • Support and advocate for what you can do
  • Encourage you when motivation wanes
  • Nudge you to recognise patterns that aren’t serving you
  • Help you take those small steps that overcome resistance
  • Celebrate your progress along the way

These small changes create something profound – they help you feel more confident and more trusting of your own capabilities. You start to see yourself in a positive light.

You discover you can manage your life differently and get the results you’ve been wanting.

When Coaching Might Be Right for You

Coaching could be particularly helpful if you:

  • Know what you want to change, but feel stuck on how to do it
  • Keep starting and stopping new habits
  • Have tried self-help approaches but lack accountability
  • Want to focus on solutions rather than exploring problems
  • Are ready to take action but need support and guidance
  • Feel like you’re your own worst enemy when it comes to change

My Personal Experience with Coaching

As someone who has coached hundreds of people and worked with many coaches myself, I’ll openly admit my bias – I believe coaching is an extraordinary modality. It has helped me repeatedly in both my personal and professional life to create meaningful change.

This is why I’m passionate about training people to become coaches, because I’ve witnessed the ripple effect this modality can have.

When I train one coach, they go on to support dozens of clients. Those clients create positive changes that impact their families, their workplaces, and their communities. The transformation spreads far beyond our initial coaching conversation.

If you’re feeling stuck and ready to move forward rather than backwards, coaching might be exactly what you need.

But if you’re drawn to helping people get unstuck, to supporting others in creating the changes they want to see in their lives, then explore our coaching training programs.
